Hello Marcia and family,
The day WJ walked through the RVMC Lab to introduce himself as an applicant for the Lab leadership position, I was a technologist working at the 'Coulter' analyzer. We chuckled over the uncanny irony, and from that early introduction, began a comfortable, genuine work relationship. We both enjoyed gardening; and I have several memories in which I approached him with specific work-related concerns. As he'd hear my issue, he'd ask me 'how next spring's planting plan was coming along' or 'whether I'd picked and frozen all the corn yet.' Without fail, my 'issues' were often resolved with a softer slant. WJ had an extraordinary ability to listen and communicate. His keen intelligence, coupled with care--and a sense of justice--were outstanding attributes. Please know that my memory of WJ is with me throughout these years (for me and many).
Prayers for comfort, and thank your for great memories.
Best,
Karen Rasmussen
