Your always on my mind my love
Susan was my oldest friend. Our parents knew each other before we were even born when my parents built a house across the street from theirs, our lives became forever intertwined. We were always at each other’s houses, growing up side by side and sharing everyday moments that quietly became lifelong memories. We went through school together until her parents moved away after we graduated high school. Though the miles eventually kept us apart and we didn’t see each other as often, the bond never disappeared. We always made the effort to show up for family, a reminder that distance could never erase the history and friendship. There are too many memories to choose from and so many pictures from our childhood. One of those ‘show up’ moments happened just a few weeks ago when she came to my aunt’s funeral with her mom. We had not seen each other in years, but they didn’t hesitate. I’m so grateful that we had that time to reconnect and reminisce. I had no idea it would be the last time. My heart is broken and it will take me a while to process this. Gone way too soon. Rest peacefully my friend. Until we meet again.
Susan was my co-worker. She came into my life for a reason. Whenever I was having a bad day, she would say "Don't worry, it will be alright". She was my clam in the storm. She was a friend to all. I will miss her smile at the Reggae Festival.

Susan and I or sisters from the time I was 7 years old on. We shared a bedroom for 8 years. During the many years that we were sisters I have many fond memories of her. One of them is the fact that my mom used to nickname us the "sweetheart sisters". The reason for this was actually came from a pair of tennis shoes that my mom bought for both of us. They had two little interlocking hearts on them and since we dressed a lot a like because we were about the same height even though; she was 4 years younger than me, it just became a nickname for us. She also had the nickname of Susie Q, and Toot Toot.
Susan and I used to play along with our brother Paul outside in a army surplus utility hut. We love playing in that box it was like our tree house. We used to hold caterpillar Olympics out there and all kinds of other crazy things.
One of my best memories consist of a going to the fair that we had here in our town in Ocala. We decided to play a dart game where you throw a dart and you pop a balloon and you get win something. I popped three balloons and won a unicorn painting; which I still have hanging up in my apartment right now. It was a great night I let her drive my car as she had just turned 15 there and back and she really like that.
Every time I see that painting I think of that carnival game and us playing it and how we had so much fun that night!😭
