Ruby Downing Jordan's Obituary
Ruby Downing Jordan, of Tallahassee, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2020 surrounded by her loving sons. She was born on August 7, 1943 in Hahira, GA to the late Lucy D. Moore and Ivey J. Downing. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and sisters and Opal M. Hitchcock, Julia D. Johnston, and brother Ira Paul Snow.
She was a devoted mother to her sons Dax Anthony Jordan and Chad Stephen Jordan. Ruby was a lifelong Seminole and loved her time as Assistant to FSU President Dr. Bernie Sliger. She was the Director of Annual funds at FSU Foundation. She also worked for the FSU College of Medicine.
Ruby is survived by her sons Dax Jordan, Chad Jordan (Courtney); beloved grandchildren William Downing Jordan and Catherine Tyler Jordan; and nieces Martha Waddail (Tom) and Debra Raines and much loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family is having a small, family-only gathering due to COVID-19.
In lieu of flowers, donations to can be made to Big Bend Hospice.
