I only worked with Shawn for about a year, but in that time he made a huge impression on me. He was always fast with a smile and a friendly word. He had a mentality of positivity at all times. Whenever I needed something done, he was happy to get my problem solved, and never acted like a task was beneath him or silly. He consistently stayed late, and was always there making sure things got done right. I didn't know him super closely, but I still got the impression that he was a genuinely good and caring person. His smiling face will be sorely missed in the halls of Georgia Pines. Rest in peace, Shawn.
Shawn was, as others have shared, the kindest individual I've been Blessed to have met, in many years. On my late nights facilitating substance abuse groups, Shawn stayed late as well. Making sure I was safely in my car after group ended. Not at all something he was required to do, but he did! We shared stories of our love of family and our fur babies. He truly loved both endlessly! I'll never be able to express my gratitude for his unending selflessness on those long, late nights making sure I was safe. My heart is broken for his family, and his work family at Georgia Pines. May you take your eternal peace my sweet friend. You will never be forgotten. Rest now. 😔🙏🙏
Shawn had such a kind spirit and his smile was contagious. He was always lending a hand wherever he was needed at GA Pines. Prayers for peace and comfort to his family during this difficult time.

Shawn was like many have already said, kind and selfless. He went out of his way many times to help co-workers in any way that he could. He was fervent in his care for the ducks at Cherokee Lake, even when it was raining or cold. He was faithful to the agency and a hard worker. He will be missed by many at Georgia Pines.
Shawn was one of my favorite persons on this earth. He was kind, patient, funny, brilliant and sweet. He was so happy to reconnect with his granddaughters! He loved showing me his pictures of them on his phone. He loved his daughter, so much!
I affectionately called him Papa Goose, as he daily fed the ducks and geese at Cherokee Lake.
He took care of himself, ate right. I even teased him each day at work that I knew what he was going to eat, an avocado, an orange, beans, nuts, etc.
I will miss him greatly. I will miss his hugs that he greeted me with and always said goodbye with. I'm glad I told him that he was a good friend and that I loved him.
To his family and girlfriend, my heart breaks for you and I pray that one day, the Bible's promise that we will see Shawn again, will bring you comfort. "There will be a resurrection. "
I met Shawn about two years ago at our gym. He was the kind of guy you felt an instant comraderie with. As others have mentioned, he was a gentle soul; one who cared deeply about the patients whom he represented, and every stray cat. You could not enlist him to say an unkind word about anyone -no matter how deserving. He recently connected with his granddaughters, and the look upon his face, when showing me their pictures, said everything about him. He was stunned to be in possession of those pictures. He treated them as though they were fragile, and priceless. I knew then that I loved the guy, and had looked forward to a long friendship. James Boswell once wrote, "We can not predict the exact moment at which when friendships are formed. As if filling a vessel, drop by drop, there is at last one which causes it to run over. And, so, in a series of kindnesses, there is at last one, which makes the heart run over." -Bruce Taylor
I have many fond memories of Shawn during our time at GA Pines together. He always had a smile on his face and would stop what he was doing to talk to me and ask me how I am. He also always offered to help out with any task, and it was always appreciated, especially when he offered to carry furniture or large items to different parts of the building. We both had the same commute from Tallahassee to Thomasville and would often pass each other along the way. He coined us “driving buddies.” Shawn was a light, with a bright, friendly, and loving nature. I will always look back and smile when I think about him feeding the ducks but the pond at work. Such a kind spirited person and I am heartbroken by his passing. I am thinking about his family and friends.
I will always remember our beach trips brother and fun times at the Pike house! Rest in Peace☦️
Rest up brother. I will never forget the time at the Pike house and all the great memories.
