I went to school with Richard in Melbourne, FL, at Our Lady of Lourdes elementary. We were on the same bus. His family lived down the street adjacent to where my father worked at M & M Superette.
Richard was always a great guy, ready to smile. I last saw him at a Christmas week Mass in Melbourne within the last 6-8 years.
We moved to Tallahassee less than two years ago. I wish I had gotten in touch with him. The photo here is perfect to show his personality.

Richard hired me in 1993, in my first state government job at FDOT in Information Technology right before I graduated college. One time, after something occurred where a system went down or had a glitch he said something close to this - that was very true, “If nothing ever broke or went down we [IT folks] wouldn’t be appreciated.” I absolutely loved working for him, he was always so gregarious and smiling. My heartfelt condolences to the family and all his friends.

Richard had a boundless enthusiasm for life....he was passionate about all things mentioned in his obituary which also included tropical islands...he told me once he thought he had visited every island in the Caribbean which must have been inspired by his Mother's background which was Barbados (if I remember correctly)...great neighbor, great friend to my brother in law Willy, and just a great person
