Maj. Philip Aretas Newton Jr. USAF (Ret.)'s Obituary
Philip Aretas Newton, Jr., 89, of Tallahassee, passed away December 2, 2024 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnelle Newton in 2005.
Philip was born in Franklin, NC and moved from Seattle to Tallahassee in May of 2005. He served and retired from the United States Air Force serving as a navigator and aircraft mechanic for 25 years. After retirement he enjoyed planes, boats, fishing, yardwork and watching the stars at night. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Tallahassee.
Survivors include three children, Kae Craig (Cam) of Tallahassee; Mark Newton (Lori) of Macon, GA; and Kristen Briggs (Kevin) of Burlington, WA; two sisters, Mary Lynne Spivey of Franklin, NC; and Sandy Sale of Panama City, FL; six grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Dusty.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 18th at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3705 North Monroe St., Tallahassee, FL 32303. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund.
