I have known the Newton family for 40 years. Phil and Bonnie were always very kind to me when I visited them at some of their different homes. I treasure the way they raise their daughter Kae to be so welcoming and inviting to so many people living with she and Cam. Thank goodness for Kae and Cam's serving spirit and giving Phil the last 20 years a wonderful home, game nights, movie nights, dinner out, trips, fishing and time with family. His laughter will be missed along with his ability to identify any plane in the sky. Fly high Phil.

My last acknowledgement for my Father and to my Mother is the best gift they ever gave me, and that was to introduce me to the God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Because of my parents love for me, I owe all my life to the Lord Jesus and his teachings.
I wish I could see him one last time, to hug his neck and look him in the eyes and say THANK YOU DAD, and THANK YOU MOM!!! See you again soon. I love you both so very much. Love, Your Little Girl Kristen
I also wanted to say, that he gave me a great love in the field of geology. I have been an amateur rock hound since an early age. All the road trips we would take...and the numerous times we'd stop to get out and stretch our legs, he'd show me all things interesting about rocks, gems and minerals. I've passed that love down to his grandchildren too. Living here in the Pacific Northwest, we've been to several beaches on Puget sound and to many rivers. I thank my father for teaching me all about the ends and outs on that subject.
I wanted to share about my Father, the many things I have learned from him my whole life. There are so many, it's hard to chose just one or two. He taught me about the weather and how you could see rain before it ever hit the ground and that was virga. I have past that on to his grandchildren, Courtney, Brandon and Hope. I recall when we lived in Amarillo, TX I was in my early teens and we'd just finished up with dinner. A thunderstorm had just past and I got up and we looking west. The sun was shining off in the distance but there was still dark clouds overhead. Sure enough if a funnel cloud didn't start forming. I hollered over to him, (he was still sitting at the table) and he jumped up and stood next to me. He said, "Yep that's a funnel cloud". Thankfully it went back up into the clouds. He told me to just keep watching just in case. Sure enough another one formed and it too went back up into the clouds. I remember being told it had actually formed somewhere else and cause damage. But it was then and way before then, that I found my love of weather. Our whole family..(Kae, Mark and I), passed down that love to our children. I'm in the Pacific Northwest now, so it's a lot different of weather than mid-west and south.

It was our good fortune to come to know Phil Newton as a much loved and respected member of the Craig family. We knew him as a kind gentleman, ready with a sweet smile to be helpful and engaged with the family however possible. He loved sharing time with them and faithfully tending to the family pet—his best friend, “Dusty,” who must miss him dearly, along with a family who have been blessed with good memories from sharing a life with Phil. May those memories bring you all comfort in the days to come.
