I lost a very dear coworker and friend. We worked side by side for ten years.
I met her at my previous job, where she taught me so much, and even after I left to the water quality lab, she never stopped reaching out until we got to work together again.
My memories with her are endless. She always applauded my English and joked about how grateful she was that my husband helped me master the accent.
She cared so deeply. She was the one who planned my baby shower when I had my second daughter, and she was one of the very few people who bought my oldest daughter a gift so she wouldn’t feel jealous from the baby.
That was just who she was: thoughtful, compassionate, and endlessly kind.
Even in these last two painful weeks, she called me asking if I could take the things she had already prepared for our Christmas gathering at work. She had bought vegan hot chocolate for one coworker and sugar-free for another one.
In the middle of her suffering, she was still thinking of everyone else. That’s who she was — caring until the very end.
My heart is heavy, but so full of gratitude that God allowed our paths to cross not once, but twice. I will miss her deeply. May her memory be eternal. 💛
