Joe Rowan was one of the only men I ever looked up to. We always say get you a man like him, I am so forever grateful to have had the privilege of calling him grandaddy. He was truly the most caring and loving man, and i miss him so much more than words could say. However, I know he’s watching over us in heaven.
I will forever love and strive to be as caring and strong as you were grandaddy.
Joe Rowan was well known by many as a friend, but I had the very rare privilege of calling of him something much more dear, Dad.
The very foundation of who I am as a person and who I am as man is built upon the character of Joe Rowan and I am so proud to be his son.
Selfless, sacrifice, hardworking, patient and father are all words synonyms with Joe.
Thank you dad, for everything. Every lesson, every laugh, every diaper changed or ride home from school, every steak grilled, every day of work, every drop of blood and sweat you gave for me and for our family. I love you and even though I mourn your passing, I rejoice that you are with our Heavenly Father, and watching us all.

Yesterday, July 13, this world lost a "good man." I know Joe Rowan to be a good man by the way he loved and respected his family and friends and they returned that love and respect. Anyone who saw Joe and Connie together could never doubt the love and respect they felt for each other. He loved Kristy, adopting her and giving her his last name and became "the dad he didn't have to be" that Brad Paisley sings about. And Cody! Joe was so proud of Cody; you could see it in Joe's eyes when he looked at or spoke about Cody. And those granddaughters! When Connie posted the photo of those little girls shopping with their granddaddy, I thought of my own "Poppa" who took my kids shopping to buy something that I had refused to get them. Fly high, Joe Rowan! And when you get to Heaven, look up my dad, Walter Harbin. You two have a lot in common. He'll be glad to show you around. He was a "good man" too!
William Joseph Rowan, affectionately know as "Joe" but to me, "Dad" was called home to be with the Lord yesterday morning, at 10:20 am. He was the epitome of a selfless man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. It is truly heartbreaking to lose such a kind and loving person in this sadly, sometimes dark world, however we know he is at peace and no longer suffering. I'll never forget all he did for our family and for me especially, being my dad when he didn't have to be. I love you so much more than words can say and hopefully time will ease this aching hole in my heart. Rest easy and fly high, Dad!
Yesterday I lost my best friend who happened to be my brother in law Joe Rowan. He was the best family man, a hard worker, kind, humble, soft spoken man. He was always bigger than any argument I am sure I started lol. We enjoyed college football games, college basketball games together and most of all Nascar racing at Talladega with our families. I love you Joe and will miss you deeply. I am so blessed to have known you my best friend. Steven Goodman
