Jimmy Ray Trusty's Obituary
Jimmy Ray Trusty, 63, of Monticello, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2025, after a battle with cancer. Born on January 14, 1962 in Atlanta, Georgia, Jimmy was known for his kindness, generosity and his love for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Shaw, sisters Patricia Shirling, Glenda Wheeler and nieces Kim Randall and Deedee Montes, and nephews, Jason Evans and Robert Shirling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl J. Trusty and Ruby (Holloway) Trusty, his siblings Suzette R. (Trusty) Evans and Kenneth Earl Trusty.
Jimmy was a master of hardwood flooring, and took great pride in creating beautiful floors. A favorite pastime of Jimmy’s was sitting by his fire pit enjoying music by the rock band Journey and country singer Alan Jackson. He treasured animals of all kinds and his best friend was his beloved dog, Lola. Jimmy not only cared deeply for animals, he often said, “My mama always told me to take care of old people and children,” and he took that to heart and lived it every day.
Jimmy enjoyed buying lottery scratch-offs and when he hit it big, he loved spending his winnings on family, friends and even strangers. His friends fondly remember when he chartered a tour bus and took everyone to the Talladega Racetrack. Wherever Jimmy was, there was sure to be lots of laughter and joy.
A memorial service will be held at the Homestead Barn, 519 Whitehouse Road in Monticello, Florida, on February 7, 2026 at 12 pm, luncheon following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jefferson County Humane Society.
