I’ve known Andy since I started working at DOT in 1971. We worked together there and in his second career at DEP. He was always a great friend and always willing to help others in any way he could. He will be missed by all that knew him. May he rest in peace and my condolences to the family. My memories of Andy and Mike will forever be appreciated.
I came to know Andy from the Fork Creek Hunt Club. He accepted me as a member a number of years ago and I'll be forever grateful. Andy was a fine upright gentleman, loved the woods and deer hunting, and always had a smile to share.
I have known Andy since 1969, as a friend, coworker, business partner and fellow sportsman. A devoted family man, a dedicated, hard working public servant, a man of faith and a good poker player.
So many good memories of Andy from over the years; especially from great hunts, some very successful and some dramatically unsuccessful. Known and appreciated by his hunting buddies for always bringing the finest goodies for us to eat when he was along. He taught me the right way to prepare and cook swamp cabbage too.
Spent many good days working alongside Andy at the DOT (the old State Road Department when we signed on back in the 60’s). Regretfully, after he retired from the DOT and started his second Career across town with the Florida Marine Patrol, we began to see less and less of each other, but I will never forget Andy Lewis and his family. Andy was absolutely one of the good guys. He never met a stranger, kind and helpful to all, he will be sorely missed.
