Emory Gilbert Hoover III's Obituary
Emory Gilbert Hoover III, lovingly known as “Gil,” passed away on May 12, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida, at the age of 53.
Gil was born on February 17, 1973, in Tallahassee, Florida, where he was also raised. He was the son of Emory Gilbert Hoover, Jr. and Anne Hoover.
Gil will be remembered for his easygoing nature, generous spirit, and welcoming heart. He was the kind of person who made others feel comfortable immediately and always believed in helping those around him. He enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, bowling, tending to his garden, and especially being a grandfather. Gil was also incredibly handy and talented at building and fixing just about anything, skills that became the foundation of his career throughout his life.
More than anything, Gil taught the people around him to slow down, appreciate the moment, and enjoy life’s simple things. His quiet wisdom, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gil is survived by his parents, Emory Gilbert Hoover, Jr. and Anne Hoover; his daughter, Angela (Christopher) Huggins; stepdaughter, Jamie (Chris) Revell; and his eight beloved grandchildren; Morgan Howard, Jace Hartley, Lily and Hayden Revell, Christopher II, Reese, Emory and Renlee Huggins. He is also survived by his brothers, Danny (Tonya) Hoover and Donnie (Annette) Hoover, along with three nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lisa Hoover; his grandparents, Emory Sr. and Addie Bell Hoover; and Harry and Gracie Reynolds.
Gil’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends and in the many lives he touched through his kindness, generosity, and love.
