Daniel Bowman Conger's Obituary
Daniel Bowman Conger died peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Margaret Z. Dozier Hospice House in Tallahassee.
Daniel fought a courageous battle against cancer the last seven years never giving up hope that a cure was just around the corner. Daniel was an inspiration to all who knew him, demonstrating grace and humor in the face of adversity and overwhelming odds.
Daniel was born to Audrey and Jerome Conger on December 30, 1953, in Miami, Florida. Daniel was the youngest of three boys. Daniel grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, moving to Tallahassee in his senior year of high school where he went on to graduate from the University of Hard Knocks. Daniel married his "reason for living," Sue, on her birthday in 1981. Daniel was a loving and proud father of his two sons Jeremy and Joel Conger.
Daniel liked being his own boss and owned two businesses over the years: Drapery and Blind Installations and Pizza Take & Bake. In later years he used his management skills in several local companies where he tried to instill good working habits in young adults. Daniel retired in 2014 to focus on completing his plans to make his backyard into his own private Eden.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Sue, with whom he just celebrated their 34th anniversary; his sons, Jeremy (Nicole) and Joel; grandchildren, Charlotte and Devlyn; his Father, Jerome Conger (Helen); brothers, David Conger (Debi), Victor Hansen (Marie); brother-in-law, Scott Davidson (Ann); sister-in-law, Stacey Reynolds; mother and father-in-law, Marge and Ted Davidson; and nieces and nephews, Jimmy Conger (Rebecca), Chris Hansen (Corey), April Staples (Mark), Blake Davidson, Faith Davidson, Margaret Hope Davidson, and Zealand Reynolds.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Audrey Conger, and nephew, Robbie Reynolds.
A celebration of Daniel's life will be held at Killearn United Methodist Church on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity or Big Bend Hospice whose caring staff, especially Donna, gave Daniel and the family the gift of peace.
