From Blake's Aunt Debbie:
Over 50 years ago while in high school art class we were given a calligraphy practice assignment using one of the quotes on a list.
I chose "Music is the moonlight in the gloomy night of life." Johann Paul Friedrich Richter (Jean Paul) I was in the band at the time and throughout my life enjoyed listening to my grandmother play the organ and piano, my aunt studied music and became a very accomplished organist, pianist and choir director. My Dad was a fan of classical music, my Mom loved the big band sounds, and there was always music playing in the house or car.
So when Blake and his sister Blaire showed an interest in music at a young age I was thrilled.
I attended recitals and concerts and I am a very proud Aunt.
When Blake chose to continue to pursue a career in music we enjoyed watching him grow.
He studied and played, not for himself but for the sake of others, he brought joy and stirred our emotions when he played.
His goal to bring music into the lives of people with challenges inspires us and encourages us to imitate his LOVE for people.
Recently Blake had compiled a list of names on a white board. My brother, his Dad, told me Blake did this because he wanted to remember them and to reach out to them whenever he had a chance. Everyone he ever met must be on that list because there were columns of names too many to count. That says much about what kind of person Blake was.
I have no doubt that he will continue to reach out to us in ways we will not expect. He never forgot you and reminded us to pay it forward.
