Wanzie Woodrow Tucker 's Obituary
Wanzie Woodrow Tucker, 79, died July 23, 2015 at the Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born May 10, 1936 in Moultrie, Georgia to Ruby Mae Roberts Tucker and Carly Woodrow Tucker. In 1954, he married his best friend and the love of his life Katheryn Sue Knox Tucker. They recently celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary.
Wanzie was the owner of W. W. Tucker Masonry and worked as a masonry contractor in the Clearwater area for over thirty years. He previously worked as a superintendent for Seminole Awning and Screening. Wanzie had a passion for refinishing gun stocks, building custom knives and cooking delicious meals for others. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his family. He was a member of the Monticello Country Jamboree for 15 years.
Survivors include: his wife Katheryn Sue Knox Tucker; four children, Steven Tucker of Monticello, Debra Tucker Ussery (Ronald) of Monticello, Mark Tucker (Lisa) of Clearwater, and Sharon Tucker Lovette of Summerville, SC; four grandchildren, Jeremy Ussery (Nicole) of Mililani, HI, Dustin Ussery of Monticello, Brandon Tucker of Washington DC, and Trent Tucker of Clearwater; five great-grandchildren, Kendall Ussery, Ashlyn Ussery, Natalie Ussery, Elise Vores, and Tucker Ussery; and one sister Faye Tucker Perino of Largo. Wanzie was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Mae and Carly Tucker; sister, Marie Tucker Strickland and her husband Lavon Strickland.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 9, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. The celebration will take place at the Monticello Country Jamboree on Waters Street in Monticello, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome to the Big Bend Hospice House 1723 Mahan Center Boulevard Tallahassee, Florida 32308 or the Alzheimer’s Project 301 East Tharpe Street Tallahassee, FL 32303.
