Virginia Whigham's Obituary
Frances "Virginia" Tharp Whigham, 81, of Quincy, passed away on May 25, 2023, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Carter Whigham.
Virginia was born April 16, 1942, in Chipley, Florida. When her father passed away at an early age she moved with her family to Quincy, FL, where she resided for the remainder of her life. She was very active with the First Baptist Church of Quincy where she was a longtime member. At the time of her Death she was serving as the ministry assistant of the Gadsden County Baptist Association. She also formerly served as the assistant director at Thomas Memorial Baptist Child Development Center as well as secretary of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church.
Virginia‘s hobbies included spending time with church friends, helping with various committees at church, creating floral arrangements, decorating her home for every season, painting, yardwork and spending time with her grandkids.
Virginia is survived by her four children, Ron Whigham of Tallahassee; Susan Tyring (Dave) of Panama City; Alison Davis (Jeff) of Quincy; and John Whigham (Jaynie) of Woodstock, GA; and four grandchildren, Alyssa Higgins, Carter & Kaylee Tyring, and Kacie Widener.
A service is planned for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Quincy (main sanctuary). A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The interment at Hillcrest Cemetery will be held privately following the service. Lifesong (850.627.1111) is assisting the family with arrangements.
