Virginia "Carol" Dunson's Obituary
Virginia Caroline “Carol” Casey Dunson, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, May 9, 2025.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Wednesday May 14, 2025 at Lifesong Funeral Home, 20 S. Duval Street, Quincy, FL. A graveside service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery, 284 McCall Bridge Road, Quincy, FL on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 11 am.
Carol was born in Plant City, FL to Walter H. and Winifred Stanley Casey. She was a devoted mother to her 3 children and opened her home to everyone. She was a Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout troop leader. She was a proud Air Force wife who traveled the world and lived in several US states, Japan and England. She earned her associates degree from TCC and was a proud member of Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.
Carol worked for Dick Suber at Suber Nurseries, H&R Block in Quincy, FL, and the Finance Department at City Hall in Quincy, FL before retiring from the University of Florida, IFAS Research Center. She was a founding member and treasurer of the Wetumpka Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Florida Order of the Easten Star, a member of the Apple Country Quilt Guild in Ellijay, GA and a member of the Florida Good Sams Club.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, husband, MSgt. James “Jim” Dunson, Sr. (Ret.), brothers Walter I. “Jerry” Casey and Robert “Glen” Casey, sister Linda “Katie” Young, and son James “Jimmy” Dunson, Jr. She is survived by her daughters Cheryl McClure (John McClure) and Yvonne Peters (CMSgt Scott Peters (Ret.)).
