Viola Irene Baker's Obituary
Viola Irene Baker, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at her home on October 21, 2021. Viola was born in Wayne City, Illinois on July 2, 1939 to Mildred and Forrest Lathrop. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert G./ Baker, her parents, her brothers Gordon Lathrop and Albert Lathrop and her sister Audrey Kercher. She is survived by her sister Phyllis Seevers and brothers Virgil Lathrop and John Lathrop (Peggy); daughters Carmen Lashley (Tim) and Krista Wain (David) ; grandchildren Gregory and Olivia Lashley, Kelcie and Trevor Wain; and her caregiver of the past three years, Robin Kilpatrick.
She lived a life of service as a special education teacher to children and adults. After her retirement from teaching she volunteered at her grandchildren’s schools and was a devout Christian that believed in giving without question or limit.
Services will be held at Tallahassee Heights United Methodist Church, 3004 Mahan Dr., Tallahassee, FL 32308 on Sunday November 7th at 2:00 PM. There will be a reception after the service in the Fellowship Hall.
