Vicki Lynn Herlovich's Obituary
Vicki Lynn Herlovich, 59, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on October 21, 2022, after a
long journey with colon cancer.
Vicki is survived by her wife Marjorie Karter, stepson Johnny Baxter, siblings Phil Herlovich
(Trish) and Tony Herlovich (Kim); and oldest nephew David Herlovich (Jennifer). She was
preceded in death by her parents William (Bill) and Geraldine Herlovich. Vicki was born in
Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Vicki’s love of music began when she was a young child – she sang her first solo at the
Fitzgerald First Baptist Church at the age of five and continued singing throughout her life.
She also played the piano, guitar, trumpet, French horn and harmonica.
Vicki was an Occupational Therapist (OT) for 16 years in Leon and Gadsden Counties.
As an OT, Vicki worked with special needs children, some of whom were in very difficult
settings, as well as taught music to children and adults. During this time, she also
formed a community choir at her home and sang with old and new friends every
Wednesday for five years. At the end of the five years, she was offered a job at Unity
Eastside Church to lead its choir and soon thereafter became the Church’s Music
Director/Music Minister and was there 18 years until her passing.
Vicki felt so fortunate to be able to have a career that combined her two passions – the
love of teaching children and the love of music. She, and the beautiful music she made and sang, will be missed by all who loved her.
A Celebration of Life Service for Vicki is scheduled for 1:00pm on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at
Unity Eastside Church in Tallahassee.
