Tyler Robinson Proskine's Obituary
Tyler Robinson Proskine, 86 of Quincy, FL died peacefully at his residence on January 14, 2023.
Tyler was born on a dairy farm in Margaretville, NY to the late Thomas and Martha Proskine on October 19, 1936. Tyler worked the family dairy farm in Roxbury, NY until he went to Cornell University and
eventually received his Agricultural Sciences degree. There, he met the love of his life, Buena. They married and had 4 wonderful children. With the encouragement from his father, Tyler returned to Cornell and earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1965. The family then moved to Edinboro, PA, where Tyler spent 10 years tending to small and large animals. The family relocated to McMurray, PA, where he founded and worked his own veterinary practice for 15 years. He retired ahead of schedule and moved to Quincy, FL in 1991.
Tyler was an avid golfer who was known to always walk the golf course. To say he had a green thumb would be an understatement. His garden would always provide more than enough, and he would share with any soul passing by. No garden would suffer to be unweeded so long as Tyler had anything to say about it. And it was no greater joy to an old farm boy than to mow his lawn with his trusty John Deere.
Tyler will be sorely missed and survived by his son Vincent Proskine of Peoria, AZ, his son Daniel Proskine (Wendy) of Kamiah, ID, his daughter Tylene Proskine of Torrance, CA and his daughter-in-law Stacy Proskine of Littlestown, PA. He had 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and more on the way. He is also survived by his brother Alynn Proskine of Norwich, NY and sister Alice Mary Young (David) of Frederick, MD. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Buena Wickham Proskine, and his eldest son, Joseph Tyler Proskine.
You would be hard pressed to find two people who love each other as much as Tyler and Buena did. To know that he’s finally together with his wife and son, teasing and joking as he did in his life, does our hearts well. All who loved him will never forget his wit, charm and kidding nature. Things were always “ducky” for Tyler. For him, “if you can’t go out smiling, it ain’t worth going.” To all those who were part of his life, he’d want you to know that “It was nice to know ya.”
A celebration of life service will be held February 22, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Lifesong Funerals and Cremations 20 South Duval Street Quincy Florida (850) 627-1111
