Thomas Brent Sims' Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Thomas “Brent” Sims, who passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. He was 49 years old. Brent was born in Tallahassee and was the beloved only child of Thomas & Yvonne Sims.
Brent will be remembered for his jovial character, dry wit, generosity & brilliant mind.
Brent is survived by his three children; Tyler Sims, Haleigh Sims & Bowen Sims, his mother Yvonne Sims, & his father Thomas Sims, as well as a multitude of extended family members & friends.
Brent spent an extraordinary 28-year career in the lighting & electrical industry, beginning in the warehouse & ending as an outside sales representative.
Brent’s devotion to youth baseball leaves behind his legacy at numerous ballfields. At the time of his passing, he was the Tallahassee Babe Ruth President, as well a dedicated presence at Myers & Levy Park for many years. Brent gave his time, energy & unwavering support to every player he encountered. By far, his favorite player was the one he raised, his son Tyler Sims. Both Tyler and Haleigh spent countless hours alongside their father, supporting the baseball leagues in Tallahassee. He will be greatly missed in this community.
