Thomas I. Hamilton's Obituary
Thomas Ignatius Hamilton, 83, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away on October 14th, 2020.
Thomas Hamilton was born in St. Louis, MO to Dr. William Patrick and Mary Mabel (McLaughlin) Hamilton on February 24th, 1937. He graduated from University of West Texas with a bachelor’s degree in education. He married the love of his life JoAnn Romike on June 1, 1963. He worked as a special education teacher and later advanced to become an administrator for Oak Park River Forest High School. In December 1978, his family moved to Tallahassee, FL where he was employed by the State of Florida in various capacities, retiring in 2002.
Thomas Hamilton is preceded in death by JoAnn Hamilton (wife), Bill Hamilton (brother), Katie Calabrese (granddaughter), and his parents.
Thomas Hamilton is survived by JoAnn Calabrese, Thomas Hamilton (Lisa), Theresa Hamilton, Dennis Hamilton, Jim Hamilton, Mary Hamilton, Steve Hamilton, Margaret Hamilton, Kristen Stienstra, Amanda Roberts, Rebecca Roberts, Savanah Hamilton (Dustin), Alison Hamilton, Carmen Calabrese, Ryan Hamilton, Lillian and Leah Ledendecker.
Thomas Hamilton enjoyed time in Montana in his younger years and later with his wife and children. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever remember the days of sitting on Grandad’s lap while he read Brown Bear, Brown Bear to them.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Salvation Army of Tallahassee, FL.
