Steven Lee Carter's Obituary
Steven Lee Carter died peacefully on December 4, 2024, in Tallahassee, FL, he was 73 years old. He was a former US Air Force Captain.
Steven was born to Levi and Arlene Carter in Colorado Springs, CO. He was a proud graduate of Rickards High School and FSU, and he held a master’s degree in computer science from Georgia Tech.
After an honorable discharge, he went to work for Bell Labs in New Jersey. He was a leader in his professional life working on international computer standards. He enjoyed cultural events, gardening, and the outdoors. Steve cared deeply about the environment and human rights.
Steven was predeceased by Levi and Arlene Carter, Richard Carter and Jakob Carter Hanson. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Thomson, sister, Karen Hanson (Robert), nephews Richard Carter (Xiaohua), Adam Hanson, Conrad Hanson, niece Jessica Erickson (Paul), sister-in-law, Susan Thomson and a multitude of (great) nephews and nieces, cousins, and other relatives.
A celebration of life will be held at 1PM on Friday, December 20th, 2024, at Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee, 2810 N Meridian Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd. Tallahassee, FL 32308 or Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee.
