Steve Allen McCarthy Sr.'s Obituary
Steve Allen McCarthy, Sr., 63, of Havana, FL., died Monday, March 12, 2018 in Tallahassee, FL. He passed away after battling a lengthy illness, and was surrounded by his family in his final days.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Bobbi McCarthy of Havana; five children, Billie Jo Doty Clark (Adam) of Miccosukee, FL, Chris Doty of Havana, FL, Heather McCarthy Smith (Chris) of Pelham, GA, Holly McCarthy Phillips (Joe) of Camilla, GA, and Steve McCarthy, Jr. (Wendy) of Pelham, GA; and two brothers, Michael McCarthy (Colleen) of Ochlocknee, GA, and Tim McCarthy (Barbara) of Havana, FL.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Kara Clark, Kyle Doty, Annalynn Doty, Cain Smith, Cambria Wainwright, Tristan Smith, Winter Wainwright, Mya Smith, Cameron McCarthy, Tucker McCarthy, and Jack Phillips; and 1 great-grandchild, Becca Smith.
Born May 2, 1954 in Tampa, FL, Steve was the son of the late Ramona Howell McCarthy and Michael McCarthy. After serving honorably in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic, he spent the remainder of his career as an elevator mechanic for Miami Elevator in Tampa and Tallahassee, FL. He was a proud member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors.
Upon retiring, he spent his life doing what he loved to do most: riding motorcycles, working on vehicles in his garage, and enjoying spending time with his family and many friends.
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 10 am to 12 pm, followed by a private memorial service at 12:30 pm at Lifesong Funeral Home in Quincy, FL.
