Sarah Govett Hartsfield's Obituary
Sarah Govett Hartsfield, 61, of Tallahassee, FL went to be with her Lord Tuesday, November 24th, 2020, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital following a valiant battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
She was born in Tallahassee, FL on June 17th, 1959, the daughter of the late Francis Eugene Govett and Ann Hobgood Govett. She is survived by her dedicated husband of 37 years, Donald Hartsfield, Jr., loving daughters, Emily Spisak (Paul) and Lydia Hartsfield, and two beloved grandchildren, Paul and Emma Spisak.
After Graduating from Leon High School in 1977, she attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia to pursue a career in her passion of Horticulture. After college she worked at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia and for the City of Tallahassee as Head Grounds Keeper at the then new terminal of the Tallahassee International Airport.
She was the most loving and compassionate mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed preparing holiday meals for her family and had an appreciation for nature, mom was happiest outside in her garden.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. For the protection of the health and well-being of family and friends’ services will be held privately at a later date.
