Sandra Sheffler's Obituary
Sandra Sheffler, 82, passed away December 5, 2025, in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born in Hancock, Michigan on July 29, 1943, to Norman and Sylvia Ruuspakka. She grew up on the family dairy farm in Pelkie, MI, where she gained an appreciation for animals and the outdoors as well as the tenacious work ethic displayed by her parents in the management of the farm.
She graduated as valedictorian from Baraga High School in 1961 and attended Michigan Technological University where she graduated with a BS in Medical Technology in 1965. After graduating from Michigan Tech, she moved to Muskegon, MI and began her career in the medical field. Sandra married George Sheffler in 1971 and spent the majority of her career working in the laboratory at Gerber Memorial Hospital in Fremont, MI. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, amateur weather watching, and being at the family farm in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She loved spending time with her grandkids in Florida and New Mexico. Sandra was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fremont, Michigan.
Sandra is survived by her brother, Dennis (Sandy) Ruuspakka of Pelkie, MI, and two children, Rebecca (Greg) Parrish of Tallahassee, Florida and Keith (Han) Sheffler of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, along with three grandchildren Jacob Parrish; Kaden and Kyler.
