Sam Wiley's Obituary
Samuel David Wiley (Sam) was born on January 4, 1945, in Pittsburgh PA, and passed away on April 20th, 2024, in Tallahassee FL.
He graduated from Pompano Beach High School and earned a BA Degree in Sculpture from the University of Florida. He earned his MFA from the University of Illinois in Urbania, IL.
Sam was a multidisciplinary artist specializing in sculpture, ceramics, and painting. One of his first postgraduate projects was a large cave exhibit at the Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida. The piece allowed museumgoers to experience the natural wonders of a cave and its various inhabitants. He later went on to create metal sculptures that are currently on display throughout the country.
Sam is survived by his sister, Marilyn Wiley Livingston (Mimi), brother Mark S. Wiley, five nieces, and two nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Johnston McHenry Wiley and Mary Ludwig Wiley; his sister Jacqueline Wiley Roy; and his son, Blake L. Wiley.
Sam’s funeral is on Sunday, June 30th, 2024, at 3 pm at St Johns Episcopal Church, Tallahassee FL.
