Sallye Rebecca Briggs' Obituary
Sallye Rebecca Briggs, 83, of Tallahassee, Florida passed away on July 12th, 2020. She was born Sallye Delle Ganey on December 5th, 1936, to Virginia Toye Briggs and Major General Wiley Duncan Ganey, in Urbana, Illinois. In her early years she grew up on military bases located in the Unites States, and spent her later childhood in Dania, Florida. She graduated from South Broward High School with honors in 1954. She went to Virginia Intermont College, but after a year transferred to Florida State University, graduating with a B.A. in English in 1958. She was an Arabic linguist for the NSA, recreation director for the US Army's Special Services in Vicenza, Italy, as well as grant writer for the State Library of Florida. She also worked for the Florida Bible College, and Valencia Community College, also located in Florida. She married Robert Evans and had a son, Michael. In her second marriage to Charles Pipitone she had a daughter, Tricia. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. As well as her children she is survived by her twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her sister Shirlee Bell, three nieces, nephew, and their families.
