Robert R. Skiver's Obituary
Robert Richard Skiver Sr., 79, transitioned peacefully to Heaven after a long fight with cancer on December 14, 2023, at his home at Lake Talquin in Tallahassee, FL.
Bob (Bobby) was born in Tallahassee at the Army Hospital on July 12, 1944, the son and only child of Richard Percy and Hazel Inez McDonald Skiver. He spent much of his early years at Lake Talquin where he enjoyed fishing, water skiing and deer hunting. He was a graduate of Leon High School, Class of 1963. He made a public profession of faith in Christ in 1965 and was baptized at the Parkway Baptist Church in Tallahassee.
Bob and his first wife, Marcia Winchester Marwede, had five sons. After retiring from the Centel Phone Company, Bob moved back to Lake Talquin and lived in the home where he grew up. Bob enjoyed taking trips on his Harley motorcycle to events all over the country. He also enjoyed spending time with his dogs Peanut and Waffle.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his paternal grandparents Percy Romeo and Bessie Edna Dutton Skiver and his maternal grandparents Daniel David and Evelyn Hartsfield McDonald. He is survived by his five sons and their wives, Robert (Rob) Skiver Jr. and Marlene of Beverly Hills, FL, James Skiver of Gainesville, FL, Paul and Jessica Skiver of Fort White, FL, Witt and Angie Skiver of Lloyd, FL and Matt and Jennifer Skiver of Suwannee, FL, his nine grandchildren: Kimberly Skiver (Adam) Mills, Harrison Skiver, Hayden Skiver, Clay (Mary Jo) Skiver, Brooke Skiver (Amir) Patel, Trenton Skiver, Reid Skiver, Molly Skiver and Emma Skiver, two great grandsons Logan and Brayden Mills, three great granddaughters Evelyn Kate Patel, Gracie Mae Mills, and Alice Jo Skiver, his Aunt Betty Jean McDonald, numerous cousins and his pals Peanut and Waffle.
Bob’s life will be remembered and celebrated on December 30th at 10 a.m. at Springfield Cemetery, on Springfield Rd, south of Lloyd off Highway 59. A reception will be held at Witt and Angie Skiver’s home at 655 Robert Thompson Rd, Monticello, FL (off Whitehouse Rd) following the service.
