Robert "Parnell" Oliver Jr.'s Obituary
Robert "Parnell" Oliver, Jr., 87, of Tallahassee, passed away November 1, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert Sr. and Willodean Oliver; and sisters, Glendal; Lillian; Dannie and Vivian.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheri Oliver Mohr (Walker); three grandchildren, Cassie Lewis (Patrick); Bryson Mohr and Brantley Mohr; and two great grandchildren, Gage (15) and Harper (4).
Parnell was born and grew up in Wakulla County. He resided in Tallahassee for most of his adult life. He served in the Florida National Guard in the mid 1960’s. He enjoyed a long career with National Cash Register Company from which he retired after many years. He was a longtime member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church.
Parnell loved the outdoors, hunting deer, turkey and occasionally duck. His favorite thing to do was to go “ramble” in the woods. Just being outside in nature brought him happiness. He also spent time fishing in both fresh and saltwater and enjoyed scuba diving. In his later years, he learned to bow hunt and took up competitive archery. As usual, he excelled at this and spent a lot of time honing his skills. He shot both compound and traditional bows and won many tournaments both locally and regionally, gaining many friends along the way.
Parnell always had a smile on his face, enjoyed a good laugh and had many adventures throughout his life. He will be missed by many and was loved dearly by his family. There will never be another one like him!
All friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday November 9th, beginning at 1:00 pm at the Alford Building at Wakulla United Methodist Church, 1584 Old Woodville Rd. We will have good food, fellowship and share stories of his life to remember him by. Please come with a story to share.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Big Bend Hospice. They were a great comfort to his family during this difficult time.
