Robert Morris' Obituary
Robert "Bob" Roy Morris,75, of Tallahassee, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2023 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 8300 Deerlake Rd. S. Tallahassee, FL. 32312. A memorial service will follow at the same location at 12:00 p.m. Following the memorial service, there will be a committal service at 2:00 p.m. at Tallahassee National Cemetery, at 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL. 32311.
Bob was born in Galveston, TX to Richard and Marion Morris. He served in the 25th Infantry of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in 1967 and 1968. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge.
Bob spent 28 years working for the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Lieutenant and Captain at various Federal Prisons throughout the United States. That was followed by ten years as a computer systems engineer at the Government Services Group in Tallahassee. He provided financial support to children in Africa and Cambodia for 20 years, and volunteered at Habitat for Humanity in Tallahassee for ten years. He was also a very active member of his church and gave his time to the Big Brother’s program where he partnered with a little brother, Wade Workmaster, for over 20 years.
Bob was an active woodworker and ‘fixer’ who could be counted on to assist family, friends, and anyone in need. He was a friend to everyone. Most important to ‘Papa’ was his family, and he took great joy in spending time with his friends and family every day.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard and Gary, and sister Marilyn. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Morris; his sons, Richard Morris (Lisa) and Rian Morris (Kelly); sister, Nancy Pecoraro (Jack, dec.) ; brother, Al Morris (Bonny); sisters-in-law, Linda and Marion Morris; grandson, Rian Morris; and granddaughter, Emily Morris.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Bob’s honor directly to the Wounded Warrior Project.
