I was lucky enough to grow up next door to my Uncle. With 3 nephews and 2 neices nextdoor, by proxy his home was ours and, looking back, he was quite patient with the unruly and feral bunch we were.
Later, most of us would work for the construction company Bob and Bruce ran, Hess Builders. Some made careers of it, but all of us learned from it. Lessons in carpentry, but also life: how to work; how to solve problems; how to ask questions; how to argue and then get over it; and, most crucial, how to work together.
It's impossible to sum up a life so well lived, or really put into words all that he was.
I can only hope to live half as well.
A few more old ones from the vault.
I have had the privilege to know Bob for the last 27 years. He is by far one of the most caring, giving and intelligent people I’ve ever known. He was always wonderful to my son Grayson and I and we will never forget it. I have the utmost respect for him and when describing him to others I would refer to him as “Salt of the Earth”. ❤️
My dad touched so many lives. He was the guiding light in my life. I am the women I am today becuase of all his, guidance, love and support he provided me throughout my life. He taught me to work hard, be honest and be thankful for what I have in life and I teach that to his grandkids everyday . He was a man with a heart like no other. He will be dearly missed by me and his grandchildren. His wisdom, kindness, and laughter touched everyone who knew him, and the love he gave us will forever remain in our hearts. He may no longer be with us in body, but his spirit lives on in everything we do.He will be missed every day, but never forgotten. With all our love. RIP Dad & Papa
Bob was a mirror identical twin with his brother, Bruce. He is also survived by his sisters Ellen of CA and Karen of AZ. May he rest in peace.
Bob made my life so much better in so many ways! Rest in Pease Uncle Bob
