Richard Whitehouse's Obituary
Richard Clifford Alan Whitehouse, 74, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 20, 1951, Richard lived a life defined by hard work, love for family, and a deep appreciation for the world around him. He spent much of his career working in steel building construction and was well respected for his dedication, reliability, and remarkable work ethic.
Richard and his former wife, Teena Whitehouse, raised two sons, Travis Alan Whitehouse (Paula Greer) and Richard Eric Whitehouse (Kerry Whitehouse). He was a proud grandfather to Beckett Whitehouse, Eli Whitehouse, Josie Whitehouse, and Tyler Whitehouse, and took great joy in their accomplishments and the time he spent with them.
Richard loved being active and outdoors. He enjoyed the beach, nature, long walks, weightlifting, the Red Sox, throwing frisbees or coconuts for his dog Kirby, running, windsurfing, tennis, bowling, and many other adventures. Later in life, together with Judy Mangiaracina, he was fortunate to travel, visit family, and explore parts of the world he had not been able to see as a young man.
Family was at the center of Richard’s life. He was always concerned with the well-being of those he loved. He enjoyed family gatherings, sharing stories, laughing, and teasing relatives and friends. He was known for his generosity, his willingness to help others, and the pride he felt in his children and grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Serrao, and his brothers, Danny Whitehouse and Bobby Whitehouse. He is survived by his siblings Brenda Smith, Tony Serrao, Tommy Serrao, Gilda Serrao, Augie Serrao, Tonette Ross, Shelly Serrao Deleon, and Angie Jolley, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives he touched throughout the years.
More than anything, Richard will be remembered as a proud father, Papa, and brother whose hardworking spirit, love of family, and generous heart will live on through those who knew and loved him.
A private family celebration of life and scattering of ashes will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to The Nature Conservancy, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, or another charity meaningful to the donor.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
