Randall Dexter Spires Jr.'s Obituary
Randall "Randy" Dexter Spires, Jr., 68, of Tallahassee, passed away on February 24, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Marie Spires.
Randy was born to Randall Dexter "Charlie" Spires and Elizabeth Sarah "Libby" Malcolm Spires. He was raised in Miami and moved to Quincy at the age of 18. He spent his working career as a meat cutter and meat market manager in several grocery stores in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. However, his main source of pleasure and pride was working his own business as a food vendor at various state fairs, car shows, etc., up and down the east coast. Most recently he owned and operated the hot dog stand at the east side Tallahassee Lowes Store where he would chat with and entertain his customers as they waited in line. He loved telling stories of his food vendor adventures and sharing recipes.
He is survived by one sister, Joy Tanner of Chatham, Georgia; several cousins including Harry Spires of Floral City, Florida, and Byron Spires of Havana, Florida; along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Samuel Spires, and sister, Shirley "Sherry" Austin of Knoxville, Tennessee.
A private service of remembrance will be held for friends and family on March 22, 2020.
