Paul Michael Rutkovsky Jr's Obituary
Paul M. Rutkovsky, 78, passed away April 27, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Paul was born in Norwich, Connecticut on October 15, 1947, to Paul and Genevieve Rutkovsky. After high school, at the Norwich Free Academy, he obtained his BFA at Memphis College of Art and his MFA at the University of Illinois.
He had a long teaching career beginning at Memphis Academy of Art Saturday School, University of Illinois, University of New Haven, Paier College of Art and 34 years in the department of art at Florida State University. He participated in many national and international residencies, workshops and lectures.
In the fall of 1966, while students at the Memphis Academy of Art, Paul and Fran Cutrell met and were married in August 1970. They were not only husband and wife, but they were also best friends.
Paul will be missed by his wife, Fran; two brothers, Jim (Lee Ann) and Michael (Martina); one sister, Mary; nephew, JP; niece, Kiersten and Joyce C. Sullivan and family.
