Patricia Marazita Wurst's Obituary
Patricia Anne Marazita Wurst, 74, of Tallahassee, Florida, died of complications from Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia on October 26, 2023.
She was born in Richmond, Virginia, in 1949 to Vincenzo James Marazita and Shirley Jones Marazita. She attended Florida State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Studies Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Administration.
She managed the offices of several family businesses for over 40 years. She was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and served as a Deacon.
She was a devoted and beloved mother to her three daughters, but also served as a mother figure to her many nieces and nephews, and to her daughters’ friends. Wurst had a gentle, joyful, and youthful voice and she loved to sit and chat for hours. She also loved crosswords, puzzles, reading, and enjoying the latest crime or hospital drama with a quirky protagonist. She loved music. One would often find her lost in an album of show-tunes, folk music, or hymns. If she were a song, she would be a tender and loving tune that lifts one’s spirits with only a few notes.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband John Gottlieb Wurst II; her three daughters Gina Wurst Yeager of Isle of Palms, South Carolina, Alison Wurst Denny and Tim Denny of Tallahassee, Florida, and Pamela Wurst Vetrini and Salvatore Vetrini of Alexandria, Virginia; and six grandchildren Kaitlin Elizabeth Denny (15), Melissa Jean Denny (13), John Charles Yeager (12), Henry Patrick Yeager (9), James David Vetrini (11), and John Theodore Vetrini (8). She is also survived by her sisters Sherry Marazita of Seattle, Washington, and Faye Elliott of Greensboro, North Carolina, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church on Monday, October 30th at 10:30 in the morning. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Harvest of the Big Bend or Habitat for Humanity.
