Ms. Pamela Thursby's Obituary
Pamela B. Thursby died Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at her home in Gadsden County, Florida. Pam lived in the Tallahassee area for the last 50 years and touched the lives of many.
Pam was born September 15, 1950, the daughter of Turner B. Blakeney and Mary Glory Blakeney, in Mobile, Alabama. Over the years, she lived in Mobile, Alabama; Eva Beach, Hawaii; Taipei, Taiwan; Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Cartersville, Georgia; and lastly, here in north Florida.
Pam was a graduate of Florida State University, and over the years, she worked in banking, in accounting, as an elementary teaching assistant at Florida High, and for many years as accountant for her husband's construction business. She loved traveling the backroads of America, visiting many state and national parks throughout the country, traveling sometimes with family and other times with her husband by car, truck, RV, or motorcycle. She had an adventurous spirit and was unafraid to brave the elements of often hot, cold, or wet motorcycle touring from Maine to California. She was gracious and kind to just about every person or animal she ever met and actively sought and remembered the names of folks she met regardless of their station in life.
Pam leaves behind Howard, her devoted husband of 54 years, her sons Steve and John, their wives Joanna and Rachel, her sister, Deb, brothers Dudley and Mark, their spouses George, Emily, and Cathy, twin grandchildren Izzy and Edward, and numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends, all of whom loved her very much.
A memorial celebration is planned for Saturday, December 7 at 1:00 PM at Lifesong Funerals & Cremations. 20 South Duval Street, Quincy, Florida with visitation beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Florida 32308.
