I met Doug in 1981 when we worked together at WECA-TV in the News Department. We became friends and started fishing together soon afterwards. We really did a lot of fishing after he and his brother got their boat. Many hours were spent in the Gulf as Doug and I fished and told stories. He would often be at my house, and my daughters loved his stories and playfulness. Years went by, and I did not see Doug that often, and mostly would call and talk on the phone. My wife and I moved to North Carolina and sadly did not see Doug and Becky in these past few years. Doug was a good man and a better friend, and I will miss him.

Doug and Becky lived across the street from us and were welcoming neighbors when we moved in during the summer of 98. We became friends and enjoyed seeing them and Doug was always larger than life! You could hear him before you could see him and I loved his big booming laugh when we shared a story or joke. He was kind and I know of his and Becky’s support of the Chiles team after the tragic loss of their son. He will be missed by all of us and we feel fortunate to have known him and his family. We send prayers to Becky/family along with our deepest condolences.
