Michael Price Walker, Sr., 85, passed away on February 8, 2025, in Perry, Florida.
Born on April 29, 1939, Michael dedicated his life to hard work, craftsmanship, and family. Early in his career, he served as a firefighter but soon realized that he needed a more sustainable way to support his growing family. This led him into the construction industry, where he found his true calling. In the late 1970s, he and his brother Vann co-founded MV Builders, embarking on a journey of craftsmanship and entrepreneurship. Later, Michael worked as a lead installer and contractor with Pella Windows before becoming a general contractor in the late 1980s. As the owner of Mike Walker Construction for many years, he built a reputation for excellence. Working alongside his son, Michael Jr., they completed numerous stunning projects and homes in the Jacksonville Beach and Riverside areas. His skill with wood was remarkable—he had an innate ability to create beautiful spaces that brought joy to many.
Beyond his professional life, Michael was a man of many talents and passions. He found joy in gardening, woodworking, fishing, cooking, and building or fixing just about anything that needed repair. His dedication extended even to raising award-winning rabbits—a testament to his patience and care for all living things. Those who knew him best remember him as honest, hardworking, kind-hearted, generous, creative, funny, and immensely talented.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife Bonnie; daughters Michelle (Jack), Missy (Thomas), and Melanie (Delano); grandchildren Riley (Maura), Haili (Johnny), Dalton and Lillian; great-grandsons Kane and Luca; siblings Anne (Robert), Judy (Lee), Priscillia (Robbie), and Vann (Nancy); as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents Johnny and Curtis; son Michael Jr.; brother-in-law Lee; sister-in-law Nancy; and niece MaryBeth.
Michael’s legacy lives on through the beautiful relationships he built and the love he shared with those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
