Mary Ellen Lehr's Obituary
Mary Ellen passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, in Inverness, Florida. Born in Quincy, Florida, she was the oldest daughter of Sam and Lucille Walsh Fletcher.
Mary Ellen grew up on the family farm in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School. After graduation, she worked briefly as a nanny in Connecticut, where she loved visiting New York City and exploring other areas of New England. Obtaining her data processing degree from Lively Technical College, she began her career at Blue Cross in Jacksonville. She worked at Sanger Harris in Dallas and many years at Tallahassee Community College, retiring from the Department of Justice.
Her greatest joy was her family, raising her two sons to enjoy traveling and adventures as much as she did. The family lived in Spain, Texas, Ohio and Florida.
She loved the Lord and was an advent prayer warrior.
Mary Ellen had many hobbies including crafts and sewing (making dresses for herself, her daughter in law and granddaughters); nurturing many house plants with her green thumb; and enjoying frequent trips to the beach. She had a lovely singing voice and on many family road trips, she was the radio!
She is survived by her two sons Gary Mark Lehr (Kelly) and Matthew Lehr (Amanda); her precious grandchildren; a soon-to-arrive great grandson; her sister Linda Woodward (David); nieces and nephew.
A graveside funeral will be held on Friday August 23 at 10:00 AM at Vickers Cemetery in Havana, FL.
