Lawrence Strubble's Obituary
Lawrence “Larry” Strubble, Jr., 96, of Tallahassee, FL was born on December 6, 1923, in Pontiac, Michigan to Lawrence A. Strubble, Sr. and Emma L. Ryan Strubble and was their only child. Mr. Strubble served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1943 – 1946, during the Second World War. His time served included a tour in the Pacific Theater’s Battle of Peleliu. Following his service to the country he loved, he began a career as a federal corrections officer. He spent his early years moving around the United States. While in Kansas in 1947, he met his lifelong bride, Lila “Ruth” Cline, at a dance hall where he danced his way into her heart. The young couple relocated to several places throughout the country before settling in Tallahassee where they raised a family of four children.
Mr. Strubble is predeceased by his parents Lawrence Sr. and Emma, his son Lawrence “Butch” (Kathy) Strubble III, and his grandson Matthew Strubble. He is survived by his children: Michael (Louise) Strubble, Terry Strubble, and Jeffrey (Melanie) Strubble. Grandchildren: David Strubble, Kelly Byrd, Natalie Averett Muller, Daphne Strubble; and great-grandchildren: William and Monroe.
Mr. Strubble will be laid to final rest at the Tallahassee National Cemetery on Monday, September 28, 2020 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, please keep the family in your thoughts.
