Larry Wayne Grise's Obituary
Larry Wayne Grise, 71, passed away March 6 at his home in Tallahassee with his wife at his side. He was born August 11, 1950 in Drakesboro, KY. Larry received a B.S. degree from Western Kentucky University in Psychology and Sociology and a Masters in Social Work from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. They moved to Tallahassee in 1987 where he worked briefly as an adjunct instructor at Tallahassee Community College and then in state government until his retirement. Prior to moving to Tallahassee, he worked for the Egyptian Area Agency on Aging in Carterville, IL where he administered programs for the elderly in southern Illinois. After his undergraduate degree, he returned to his home in Muhlenberg County Kentucky and worked as a social worker in Greenville, Ky where he met his wife Kay. They were married in 1973 and spent the next years furthering their education, traveling, and working in jobs they loved.
Larry is survived by his wife Kay (Sanders) Grise of more than 48 years, brother Vinson Grise in Mesa, AZ, brother Morris Grise in Munster, IN; four nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Vera Fannie Grise Haley from Drakesboro, KY, a brother James Presley Grise from Gary, IN and a sister Juanita Grise Roberts from Mesa, AZ.
There will not be a local service. His ashes will be taken by his wife to Kentucky and buried at Rose Hill Cemetery, Central City, KY.
