Lark Daughtry's Obituary
Lark Daughtry, 92, of Tallahassee, passed away December 9, 2025, at Tapestry Senior Living after a brief period of declining health. A native of Moultrie, Georgia, and former resident of Madison, Florida, he was born on August 13, 1933, to the late Wiley Daughtry and Nealie W. Daughtry.
A 1951 graduate of Moultrie High School, he served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and attended what is now Colorado State University during his tour of duty. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and varied career. He often spoke fondly of working on the crew that surveyed the center line of I-75 as it came through South Georgia, and of his time as a part-time radio DJ, during which he interviewed then-gubernatorial candidate Jimmy Carter in the early 1970s. For more than 33 years, he served as a regional manager for Refrigerated Transport Company. He later retired from the Florida Department of Agriculture, Division of Consumer Services, and then from CVS Pharmacy, where he was one of the oldest licensed pharmacy technicians in the state.
Always active, he loved tennis, working in his yard, and playing with his grandchildren. A chance lunch at Chandler’s Drive-In near his office led to a 60-year romance with the love of his life, the former Marie Lindsey, who survives. He was a devoted member of Bradfordville First Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday School until his health no longer permitted.
In addition to his wife, Lark is survived by his two sons, Andy Daughtry (Laura) of Quitman, Georgia, and Tim Daughtry (Kevin Clark) of Tallahassee, Florida; his grandchildren, Clay Daughtry (Emily) and Adam Daughtry (Claudia), both of Tallahassee; Josh Daughtry (Anna Leigh) of Valdosta, Georgia; and Caroline Rollins (Brandt) of Thomasville, Georgia; and his beloved great-granddaughter, Denver Grace Daughtry of Tallahassee. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Willard and Jack Daughtry, and his three sisters, Margaret Truluck, Inez Daughtry, and Ernestine Baker.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at Tallahassee National Cemetery on Monday Dec. 15, 2025, at 12 noon. The family will receive friends after the service at the home of Tim Daughtry and Kevin Clark, 3710 Galway Drive, Tallahassee, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lark’s memory to The Gideons International or The Tallahassee Ballet (The Kathryn Karrh Cashin Performance Excellence Fund).
