Katherine Elizabeth Hanson's Obituary
Katherine Elizabeth Hanson, 65, of Tallahassee, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2024, at her home. She was born November 16, 1958, in Tallahassee to Ann and Henry Hanson. She was a 1981 graduate of High Point College in High Point, North Carolina with a BS degree in Business Administration and Economics. She began her career in insurance n 1982 - 1999 with USF&G. From 1999 to 2003 she worked for the St. Paul in Atlanta, Ga. She worked for Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Fl from 2005-2023. Kathy retired in November 2023 to enjoy her family and friends.
In her younger years she enjoyed biking and mountain climbing with her great Danes. She spent much of her childhood at the beach with her family. Kathy always had a love for animals of all kinds. Her Dachshunds Annie, Peanut and cat Henry were with her in her final years and Kathy derived much pleasure in doting on them. Kathy had many special friends she enjoyed sharing meals and outings with.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann Page Hanson and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her father, Henry G. Hanson, Jr. of Tallahassee and her sisters, Tracy Hanson Haley (Chris), Carrah Hanson Whitaker (Mark); her nieces, Lauren Dennis Roderick (Chad), Ashley Dennis Smith (Gary), Kathryn Hall (Jimmie); nephews, Hunter Hanson Whitaker (AnnaMarie), Thomas Henry Whitaker; great-nephews, Davis Smith, Walker Smith, John Wesley Smith, Miles Whitaker, Tate Hall, River Roderick and soon to be great niece, Baylee Ann Whitaker.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. According to Kathy's wishes, a small family gathering will be held at a later date.
