Joyce Harvell Douglas' Obituary
On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at the age of 70, Joyce Harvell Douglas drifted from the pain of a long chronic illness into the hands of the Lord.
Joyce was born June 6, 1952, to Floyd and Nita Harvell. She was a member of the Havana Baptist Church and accepted Christ as her Savior when she was 12 years old. Starting in her early teens, Joyce was the pianist and organist at the Church. She played for many weddings, funerals and school functions. Joyce was very talented and loved music, dance, nature and animals. She was a graduate of Havana High School and attended North Florida Junior College. Joyce worked for the Department of Transportation for over 30 years.
Joyce's only child, Jacob, was the love of her life. He had many close friends that Joyce referred to as "her boys" because she considered them all a part of their family.
Joyce was a beautiful and loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She is survived by her mother, Eunita Weston; her sisters, Cindy VanLandingham (Ricky) and Tammy Horne (Jerry); her brother Stephen Harvell (Katie); her nieces, Becca, Ashley, Bre and Leanna; her nephews, Ben, Gage and Cooper; and great-nephews, Jackson, Levi & Sully.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jacob Harvell Douglas, her father, Floyd Alonzo Harvell and her stepdad, Don Weston.
Her service will be held at First Baptist Church in Havana, Florida on Thursday, May 25th at 11:00am. In honor of Joyce please consider a donation in her memory to First Baptist Church of Havana, P.O. Box 586, Havana, Florida 32333, or the charity of your choice.
