Joyce Eleanor Davidson's Obituary
Joyce Eleanor Davidson, 90, passed away May 3, 2023 in her home in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born May 12, 1932 in Bonham, Texas. She is predeceased by her parents, John and Norene Savage, her husband, Donald Davidson, and her brother Glendle Savage. Joyce is survived by her daughter Donna Beidler (John) of Tallahassee, son Stephen Davidson (Sherry) of Athens, Alabama, and five grandchildren: Terra Rou (Bryce) of Alachua, Florida, Ian Clark (Laura) of Tallahassee, Cassy Smith (Brad) of Madison, Alabama, Nathan Beidler of Denver, Colorado, and Andrew Beidler of Washington, D.C., as well as three great grandchildren: Evan Clark, Graham Clark, and Brody Rou. She also leaves behind her beloved brother, Lee Savage of North Richland Hills, Texas.
Joyce, being the spouse of a career Air Force Officer, always changing bases across America, served in many, primarily governmental, positions throughout her career. The fondest of which was with NASA. Working with NASA brought her in touch with many distinguished individuals, from congressmen to presidents, from generals to astronauts. However, her most favorite memory was that with Walt Disney. The parallel expansion of NASA at Cape Kennedy and Disney World in Orlando brought Walt to the Cape many times, and always a pleasure to be with. Upon retirement, Joyce returned to her hometown of Sherman, Texas, where she enjoyed spending time closer to her large, extended family. She continued to travel throughout the U.S., pursuing her interest in genealogical research.
Joyce became involved in a varied collage of organizations over her life, ranging from the International Association of Parliamentarians, to the American Business Women’s Association, both the Florida and Alabama Federation of Republican Women, the International Toastmistress Club, the Literary Club of Sherman, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Texas Genealogical Society.
Joyce is cherished for her strength through faith and her quiet resolve, and for her loving devotion to her family. Joyce will be interred with her husband, Donald, at the Tallahassee National Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held with family at a later date.
In memoriam to Joyce, in lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Covenant Hospice, (https://www.choosecovenant.org/donate/ ) or to a charity of your choosing. Lifesong (lifesongfunerals.com or (850) 765-3190) is assisting the family with arrangements.
