CTTC Joseph Frederick Dubois (Ret.)'s Obituary
Joseph Frederick Dubois, 71, of Tallahassee, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. He was born and raised in Mexico, Maine. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F Dubois Sr. and Elaine Dubois.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anna Dubois, a sister, Elise Sicotte of Rumford, Maine, and his favorite nephew Tim Sicotte of Mexico, Maine. Joe is also survived by many other nephews and nieces.
After nearly 25 years of service, Joe retired from the Navy in 1995. His military career began in 1971 when he enlisted in the Marine Corps, where he was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps in Albany, GA. He was honorably discharged in 1975. He then joined the Army National Guard from 1976 to 1977. Lastly, he enlisted in the Navy in 1979 where he joined the ranks of Cryptology as a Cryptologic Technician Technical Chief serving in Winter Harbor, Maine, Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean, and Adak, Alaska in the Bering Sea.
Joe loved life. Growing up, he loved snow skiing and roller skating in his home state of Maine. As an adult, he loved riding his Harley trike and was a member of HOG (Harley Owners Group) as well as the local chapter. He was also a member of the Patriot Guard Riders. He loved being outdoors, including trips to the Gulf, maintaining the yard, fishing, and many other outdoor projects. He loved working with wood and built large storage sheds and garages, outdoor decks, and indoor furniture. It was not unusual for him to have several projects going on at the same time.
As an organ donor, Joe’s retinas will bring sight to two people.
