John Carl Forsman's Obituary
John Carl Forsman went home to heaven on January 16, 2025. It was a peaceful passing. He was vigorous and full of life until the last year when he finally needed help.
He was born in Borger, Texas on August 26, 1933 to Viola Clare Kirkpatrick and immediately adopted by John Carl Forsman and Lillie Lae Johnson Forsman. Lillie passed when he was 12. Later his father married Belle Sivells and they lived as a family in Pampa, Texas with a step-sister, Arena where his father was a rancher.
He is survived by his children, Janis Sita (spouse John), Victor Forsman (spouse Margaret), Richard Forsman (spouse NeSna) and Katrina Forsman; his 5 grandchildren Lane Forsman, Heather Forsman Simmons (spouse Russell), Will Forsman, Nicole Smith and Michael Smith (spouse Morgan); and his 6 great grandchildren Mareth Simmons, Jaxton Simmons, Taleisin Simmons, Elaina Smith, Madison Smith and Colins Smith.
John grew up in Pampa, Texas and joined the Marine Corp during the Korean War. After he was discharged from the Marines to the station in Albany, Georgia, he went to college at Norman Baptist College pursuing a degree in Biblical Studies. While there, he met his spouse of almost 60 years, Martha Lee Walden of Whigham, Georgia.
He started his ministry after they were married and during the next 70 years he pastored over 17 churches in Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida. He loved his congregations and was a pastor to them, not just a preacher. He also took time to be with his family during the years being available as a substitute teacher or a chaperone for one of their trips.
John will be missed here on earth by all who knew him but is now enjoying time with the Lord he served so long. Jerimiah 1:4, KJV, “Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, “Before I formed thee in the belly I know thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
A memorial service is planned for 2:30 pm, Sunday, January 19 at Corinth Baptist Church in Hosford, Florida.
