Jody Weyman Dyer's Obituary
Jody Weyman Dyer, 68, of Tallahassee, passed away at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on October 14, 2021.
Jody is survived by wife Lila Dyer; sons Dwain Dyer (Melissa Melendez) and Kevin Dyer (Brittney Dyer); honorary daughter Kristina Petrandis and 9 grandchildren; sister Joy Boggess (Roger Boggess) of Versailles, KY; sister Jane Goodson (Johnny Goodson) of Quincy, FL; brother Tommy Dyer of Whigham, GA; brother-in-law Tommy Tatum of Tallahassee; aunts Estelle Dalton of Jacksonville and Evelyn Conn of Crawfordville; his work family Joe, Sue and Joey Deluca from Tops of Tallahassee; his faithful handyman and friend, Bob Patterson; his furbabies Daisy and Hurley; as well as many beloved cousins and friends who became family.
He was predeceased by parents, Bill and Polly Dyer; brother David Dyer; sister Dawn Tatum and baby daughter Jessie Dyer.
Jody was born August 13, 1953 in Atlanta GA and longtime resident of Tallahassee. He was a loving husband of 45 years and a boisterous granddad who never passed up a stop at Krystals. He worked at Tops of Tallahassee for 38 years as a master upholsterer. Jody enjoyed sharing stories of his years working as head of stage security at the Tallahassee Civic Center where he met numerous artists from Garth Brooks to Elton John to Nirvana. If you knew Jody, you knew of his grandkids. So in Jody’s honor we ask you to spoil your grandkids beyond measure and always talk to strangers. Remember him by his standard wardrobe: FSU or Tops of Tallahassee t-shirts and coaching shorts.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful medical staff at TMH who cared for Jody over the past four months. If you ask them, they will tell you about his grandkids.
To honor his wishes and keep everyone safe, we will not have a formal service. Please feel free to stop by the house or send messages directly to the family at [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, we ask a donation be made in his name to Revo Youth at North Florida Baptist Church (3000 N. Meridian Rd, Tallahassee FL 32312).
