Joanne Eileen Olson-Weeks' Obituary
Joanne Eileen Olson-Weeks, 76, passed away on March 21, 2026. She was born on August 23, 1949, in Staten Island, New York, and later made her home in Tallahassee, Florida.
Joanne dedicated her life to shaping young minds as a passionate schoolteacher specializing in early childhood development. Throughout her career, she taught in the Woodville and Deltona, Florida areas, where she had a gift for nurturing children and left a lasting impact on countless students and families. In addition to her work in the classroom, she also offered tutoring services for children needing extra support, always going above and beyond to help her students succeed.
She was a devoted alumni fan of Florida State University athletics, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on her beloved Seminoles in football and basketball. Joanne also found great joy in the beach and tropical settings, where she felt most at peace.
Joanne will be remembered for her vibrant personality—she was funny, bubbly, strong, and incredibly generous. She had a stubborn streak that those closest to her knew well, but it was matched only by her unwavering love and her habit of always putting others before herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David O. Olson Jr. and Eileen A. Olson. She is survived by her loving daughter, Rebecca Weeks; Curry Foister and their child, JC Foister; her brothers, Bill Olson, Alan Olson, and Eric Olson; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Joanne’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the love she gave so freely, and the memories that will be cherished forever.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
